Abdominal Ultrasound in Maspalomas

Veterinary abdominal ultrasound allows for detailed visualization of all organs in the abdominal cavity: liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, urinary bladder, intestines, stomach, abdominal lymph nodes, and, in intact females, the uterus and ovaries. It is the test of choice for detecting masses, cysts, free abdominal fluid, kidney or bladder stones, organic inflammation, changes in the size or echogenicity of organs, and many other abdominal pathologies in both dogs and cats.

Preparation for abdominal ultrasound

Fasting

Solid food fasting is essential before the exploration: 6-8 hours for adult dogs and 4-6 hours for adult cats. Water can be given until the time of the appointment. Fasting improves image quality.

Shaving

The ventral abdomen and flanks are shaved to ensure direct contact of the transducer with the skin. It is necessary to obtain quality images.

Full bladder

It is preferable for the pet to arrive at the consultation with a full bladder (without urinating in the previous 2-3 hours) to facilitate its visualization.
